Nothing is Forever
Childhood.
College.
That amazing career run.
Holidays with our parents.
Kids living at home.
Our awesome little dog.
The team we built.
Sunday dinners.
None of them are forever.
Everything is temporary.
Kids move out.
House gets quiet.
The dog’s not at the back door to greet us.
Our parents pass.
The career ends.
We think we have time.
We think there will always be next year.
The next game.
The next trip.
The next conversation.
Until there isn’t.
Here’s a thought…
When we have it in front of us:
Show up.
Kill the distractions.
Be present.
Appreciate it.
Go all in.
Take it for all that it’s worth.
Those chaotic mornings with the kids?
That annoying call from our parents?
That 3am wake up call for the flight to the West coast?
Embrace it.
Give thanks for it.
While we still can.
Nothing is forever.
Joe
